I haven't made any changes myself. This PR only uses the exact published version currently being voted on:

I assume that version published at https://www.w3.org/2023/09/proposed-solid-wg-charter.html is the official one. If that the case this version here seems out of sync. This out-of-sync is the only problem I try to address in this PR. I don't understand W3C Process well enough to comment on chair selection process itself.

I hope @pchampin can help as Team Contact with a way forward to reconcile version in this repository with the one published by W3C.

NOTE: Version published on w3.org links to this repository so if they are not intended to be kept in sync maybe removing that link would make the separation clear.

Moreover, two of the changes you are proposing are not in the W3C version.

I used wget to download the html and renamed it to index.html . I don't know how my PR could have some different version. Once again I'm not trying to propose any changes myself, only resolve the out-of-sync state.

Which chairs did the CG propose?

melvincarvalho commented 9 months ago

@elf-pavlik, the draft WG charter proposes Aaron as a chair, and also Justin, as per the document.

With a few implementations and a test suite in place, two chairs might suffice for a swift WG process. If I recall correctly the current suggestions have real world deployments planned or in production. So there may be some logic there.

@melvincarvalho , the CG did not propose chairs. The proposed chairs for the charter that was under review until 2023-10-06 was a W3C Team Decision as per W3C Process Requirements for All Chartered Groups. It was also the leading objections / requesting changes to the WG charter by AC representatives as mentioned in 2023-10-11 CG meeting:

  • more neutral/experienced chairs (15, FO)
    • PAC: lack of experience of proposed chairs was mentioned. we may need to propose third chair to address those concerns

@pchampin , I've created the label w3c-team-decision and assigned it to this PR to help differentiate between CG and W3C Team Decisions (follows 2023-10-04 CG meeting discussion). Feel free to apply it as needed.
