As [discussed] (https://github.com/solid/team/blob/main/meetings/2022-01-12.md) this should be writable by Solid Team members but not anyone else and should be publicly readable.

Why on earth not use a pod?

timbl commented 2 years ago

Or part of a pod?

timbl commented 2 years ago

It can be "FTP-like" in that team members will be able to put stuff in it, and public will be able to view it. We could set up a mount of a separate bit of cloud with costs which may be better cost structure for large media than our normal pod service. Whatever it is it should be running the solid protocol, not FTP, please.

From @theRealImy

For Solid World we want to host the slides of the presenters. Links you find here: https://solidproject.org/events (this was the initial reason why we wanted the ftp) The second reason were the videos from solidOS: https://solidos.solidcommunity.net/public/SolidOS%20team%20meetings/SolidOS_team_videos.html

There are no reason to not use a pod. A pod can store quite easily any type of file.

jaxoncreed commented 1 year ago

Is this still a priority for the team?

timea-solid commented 1 year ago

Theoretically yes -> we wanted to store some learning videos (which are now on personal people's drop boxes) and the Solid World presenter's slide for people to call them up when needed.

jaxoncreed commented 1 year ago

This would be solved with the completion of https://github.com/solid/team/issues/3 as we could just put the videos on the Solid Pod.

timea-solid commented 1 year ago

For some reason the Solid Pod was not a viable option - maybe upload limit... not sure what the reason was anymore.
