CBOR error programming solo with v2/v3 fw #603

Hi, I have a solo v1 with older firmware (v2 or v3) that I'm trying to upgrade but I get a non canonical CBOR error returned if I try to 'solo program bootloader' or in fact with any other command using the latest solo-python. How can I update the solo fw to the latest release? This is a non- hacker solo but I've also got a hacker solo to upgrade. Thanks, John McC.

Ok, figured it out. Just had to put the solo in bootloader mode by inserting it with the button pressed. Then a 'solo key update' upgraded to the latest 4.1.5 fw. Same process worked for my solo hacker. Now the solo commands all work without error.
