Region & Language settings too rudimentary #730

Operating System: Solus 1.2.1 Budgie version: Budgie 10.2.8

The Region & Language settings in the GNOME settings are too rudimentary to use it as a daily driver in a multi-lingual setting. With Budgie's degnomification on the way, I hope that this will eventually be on the roadmap. Specifically, what I am looking for is an option to switch between different input method editors on a system-wide level, that is, activating them by a single click. This ensures that Ibus is automatically activated upon system startup. This is a better option than having Ibus (or any other input method editor in the future) set up as a startup application (which currently triggers the settings all the time which I then have to click away).

It is also not yet implemented in the Solus MATE edition and I have raised the same issue on Phabricator here: https://dev.solus-project.com/T1579 Please see the Ubuntu MATE screenshots on Phabricator of how it could look like. While the solution that the Ubuntu MATE screenshots show is working, it is also suboptimal in terms of user interface design.

This ensures that Ibus is automatically activated upon system startup

ibus is automatically started by budgie-wm on login.

@ikeydoherty Any thoughts on this being a 11 milestone item given the future separation of settings / GCC replacement?

11 yea. System level regional/input integration is needed too.
