Discussion regarding Budgie 11 styling (MacOS Sierra theme colors?) #744

I really like the grey-purple-transparent look of the theming in the new MacOS Sierra. It probably took them years to get to this color and it is much more pleasing to the eye than anything I have seen before (no ugly grey elementary Pantheon or Linux Mint style). The guys at LXQt also had a good sense of colors: http://lxqt.org/screenshots/

Not that the default black-transparent look of Budgie is bad. I like it a lot. But it may be time for some freshness and/or alternatives.

I'm not in the business of ripping off theme colors :)

Note that per the info repo we've already said the theme will be altered.

It probably took them years to get to this color

Dangerous, dangerous assumption. Essentially, "because they are big, they are right"

ikeydoherty commented 7 years ago

Actually though, thinking about it, let's keep this open with a new title

Then we have somewhere central to discuss it. Sorry for closing so quickly @baimafeima, taking today off and resting up so I dismissed it too quickly :)

Please no. Arc looks really, really good. I do prefer Arc Red though but still. If you want an OSX Sierra-like theme, install one of the many from GNOME-Look or switch to ElementaryOS/Pantheon.

well, IMHO, Pantheon in elementary does look great. Only thing I miss there (and it's a design decision they made) is a global "dark mode" that enforces dark themes to all (supporting) apps. Of course, it's obviously very subjective and a matter of taste

  1. GNOME Tweak Tool 👉 Switch "Enable dark theme" to ON
  2. Done 😉

Too much shiny metal gradients if you ask me, it just looks like GNOME.
