dios-mios-booter won't show the list of games after switching to usb #3

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. run the program, hit -(L) to switch to usb device
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see the list of games, I get nothing.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
It happens both on SVN 26 as well as SVN 27.

Please provide any additional information below.
SVN 24 works great!

Interesting, can you boot games with r24 then?

Well, later dios-mios updates (after update 2) are having issues but at least
using svn 24 I can get a list of my games when I switch to usb and run any game
that I choose.

Have you already tested wiiflow? Would be good to know because I use its code
(as wiiflow dev thats understandable :P) Link:

It's funny that you say that. As a matter of fact I had decided to use wiiflow
about a month ago and I had the same problem!!
No matter what I did, I couldn't see the games on my hard drive!!

I haven't tested the latest svn of wiiflow though, the last version of wiiflow
I used, was r485.

And to think, I have usb loader gx r1193 and configurable usb loader mod r36
and they work fine.

What have you used to format the drive? I'm sure its some format wiiflow doesnt
like ;)

I formatted the hdd as FAT32, years ago using the internal option of Wii Backup
Manager. There is only one partition on the hdd. I also checked it for errors
using chkdsk /f and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong.

Can you try this wiiflow rev? Sounds strange to test with wiiflow but its
easier for me to debug:

What can I say, wiiflow r598 works great!!

A month ago, it wouldn't let me choose USB1 (only SD available). Now, it shows
all my games and more importantly, they run, kudos to you!!

I really hope this helps you pinpoint the issue and if there's anything else I
can do, let me know.

well, I doubt if this is the place to write about it but after installing
DIOS-MIOS v2.2 neither dios mios booter r24 nor wiiflow r598 run any gamecube
games. In both apps, I can see the games but if I try to run any, the dios mios
logo comes up and an apploader size zero message makes the wii freeze (note: I
always leave a disk in drive and I don't use NMM or any unstable option).

Now, the only way to run gamecube games is to revert to DIOS-MIOS v2.1!

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Yea, you need r28 currently for that, I'll try to implement my changes on
wiiflow into DIOS-MIOS Booter, so you can use it again with the latest
DIOS-MIOS, thanks for testing that.

Hey, can you may try this rev? I've added the latest wiiflow changes to it,
hopefully it works for you again now.

Thank you for your quick response. I tested your updated .dol after I deleted
my old .ini file
and I can now see my usb drive once again. The only options I touched were BOOT
METHOD: DM 2.1+ and
PAD HOOK: ON.

I do however want to note a few things that may or may not have to do with your
program. If they are
not related to your program just let me know.

I own ten games for the gamecube (PAL europe) and all of them are copied on my
usb drive as isos.
With DIOS-MIOS v2.1 and booter r24, I could play all of them without issues.
Now, for some of them,
I have problems:

 1. F-ZERO GX (apploader size 0 error)
 2. IKARUGA (screen out of sync, like video mode issues)
 3. LUIGI'S MANSION (apploader size 0 error)
 4. MARIO KART DOUBLE DASH (apploader size 0 error)
 5. MARIO POWER TENNIS (OK!)
 6. SONIC MEGA COLLECTION (OK!)
 7. STAR WARS: ROGUE LEADER (apploader size 0 error)
 8. THE SIMPSONS: HIT & RUN (OK!)
 9. TIMESPLITTERS: FUTURE PERFECT (OK!)
10. WAVE RACE: BLUE STORM (OK!)

Can you see if DIOS-MIOS 2.1 and the r29 booter play all games fine? If it does
but DIOS-MIOS 2.2 doesnt then I cant do something about it

I tested r29 and more games run fine. Now, I have the same problem as before
with rogue leader and ikaruga which was running with video modes issues now
does the same as rogue leader!

Forgot to mention, I only tested the games with DIOS-MIOS v2.2. Like I wrote
above I only have a problem with two games one of which (ikaruga) was running
(with video issues) with the boot.dol you sent me earlier.

OK, sounds good, then we should close this issue, for video issues just play
around with all the video options DIOS-MIOS booter offers, I'm sure you get it
to work ;)
