I think I have tried just about everything I can think of to fix this. It is a brand new install, I have tried previous versions of the code, recreating the database in postgres and browsing the code somewhat. The database tables are being created so it does not seem to be the db config. I am not sure if it is getting to trying to access the ldap server but I have been over those settings quite a bit and believe them to be correct.

Which version of Tomcat are you running? It seems like this error can occur on versions prior to Tomcat 7 according to http://stackoverflow.com/a/6616857

If you are already running version 7, let me know and I will investigate further.

You are correct, it is Tomcat 6.0.35. Sorry I did not catch that Tomcat 7 was required. I will upgrade and give it a shot. Thanks for the quick response!
