Is there some magnificent joke that I'm missing? Otherwise, hardly seem worth it. Do we already have other candidate names?

Oh no. Is it because of "coq"? That hardly seems like an argument in favor.

In my recollection, L_{oo}, stood for object-oriented language. Do not know what the connection with Coq may be. And I agree that we should replace the name with something more compelling
