Fat32 works for me but the forwarder might not work

How could this work if it has not been implemented yet? Are you sure you know
what we
are this is? I'm talking about the iso's being on a fat32 partition instead of
a wbfs
one. I know Narolez knows what this is.

This would be an awesome addition. I hope it can be done!!

The code is open source and available so I'm pretty sure Narolez can do it. It
will
probably be added to the todo list.

FAT32 is not such a big deal, unless you guy can manage to also develop a way
to
load a compressed ISO file.
FAT32 has a 4GB file size limit, and uncompressed full-disk ISO images take up
4.7
GB.
Other filesystems options are ext2/3/4 if you are a linux guy, but that would
be too
hard for non-geeks on windows to use. I think there are installable drivers for
windows, but I don't know if they are stable of feature-full.
NTFS would be a possibility, but will probably be also impossible to make
because
NTFS is too complex, unless you devs can simply pick NTFS-3G and compile it to
PPC
with just a thin layer to integrate it. Even then, it might cost too many
system
resources (cpu cycles/ram), which might affect gameplay.
Last option is exFAT, available in Windows Vista and Windows 7, and also as an
installable to XP. It is a spiritual succesor to FAT32, gets rid of its
limitations, and has
a much more simple and efficient disk layout, and is also much lighter than
NTFS on
system resources (CPU/RAM). The bad part is, it seems there is no open source
implementation yet - although I could be wrong, there have been a few months
since
I searched for it.
FAT32 seems to be the easy way in terms of getting another filesystem on board,
but
without a way to have on-the fly decompression of compressed .ISO files, it is
useless.
Perhaps a smart coder can make a custom driver to load a compressed ISO from
FAT32. There are a few different algorithms geared for very fast decompression
and
low system requirements (LZO/UCL and a few others), and a few open source
resources available on this page:

FAT32 and NTFS are both already working on Configurable USB Loader. Only
drawback is at
the moment NTFS does not support writing, only reading.....for now!! Fat32
works
flawlessly. As for the 4gig limit, that is not a problem either because most
Wii games
are way under that limit when converted to .wbfs files or CISO. Only Smash Bros
and
Metroid Trilogy are above that limit that i know of but there may be more, but
those
games work perfectly as .wbfs files split at 4Gig.

I formatted My 500GB WD Elements drive to FAT32 using "Wii Backup Manager" under
Windows 7 x64. Added games in .wbfs format to the wbfs folder on the drive and
I get
a ret=-1 error. The device is compatible as it works with no issues when
formatted as
WBFS itself. Any ideas?

There is nothing to do, wait with us for the next update, or why not a test
revision? it would be nice if Narolez could release us a test revision.

I should never have requested this. I would much rather have every other
feature creep
item on the list of things to do and this item as dead last. It it just not
that
important to me. If it's not broke then don't try and change or fix it. Not
that much
of a benefit if any at all from having this. It is a much better idea to a
dedicated
hdd for the wii anyways. When time permits then add this. Just my rantings
nothing
personal.

I disagree your opinion, seriously. Its the most important issue for some of
us, we
can't use wiiflow at all if our games are on fat32. I dont really understand
your
meaning.

If you want to use the best loader available then format as wbfs and use
wiiflow.
Otherwise use configurable usb loader or usb loader gx etc. I personally think
wiiflow
beats them hands down on the gui interface by far. The other are not even close
in this
area and don't even care to be. If you want the best user experience then
wiiflow has
it. Since wiiflow is using the Original file system which is wbfs and it works
100%
then why waste time screwing it so that other people can use it with other
loaders. It
works just fine as is. Not saying that this won't be added. It most definitely
will.
And it will be soon. I'm just saying that I would have put it off until the end.

FAT32 support is needed, just because you (mgrimmenator) dont need it, there
are plenty
of us that will use it. I currently have 451 games on a FAT32 drive and would
like to
able to try wiiflow out, and if its compatibilty is as good as Config loader
then i
will probably swap for good as yes wiiflow does have the best looking gui, but
then
again its only a loader. Its only onscreen for a minute or so before a game is
loaded
so is it really that important.

@mgrimmenator: In fact, i really dont want to format to wiiflow cauz i have a
seagate
and some seagate have issuw with WBFS partition on windows. It's not everyone's
HHD
but mine didnt be able to be read after several month with WBFS manager and any
WBFS
tools on windows (so, i wasnt able to add games or copie games on my computer,
but it
was still working on the wii) so it was shit. This is why I format it to fat32.
In
that way, it's safe. I recommand WBFS for anyone.

Appreciate the comments. After reading all the posts I can see why it is
important to
some to have fat32 and where the value is. I can even understand to a degree
that it
may be wanted sooner than later. I was not saying abandon it just to get all
bugs fixed
first, add in ability to boot disc from loader, redirect to channels, and other
features first then do the fat32.

@Narolez: Dont forget that games can be on subfolder in WBFS (just to be sure
that
it will be able to read them too ^^)

I need ntfs.
WBFS is fine but:
- It seems that xbfs is not very stable when you remove a game. Many user
reports
that removing a game from a wbfs drive might impact the other games.
- It requires a special iso manager to transfer iso. With ntfs, you can move
around
from one disk to another without any extra software
Fat32 is not nice as you can not handle 4.0+ TB files.
USB loader GX handles ntfs. Maybe its code can be resused.

Gabriel

Have tried r92 but still wasn't able to load wbfs files from a Fat32 partition.
Have read and tried all the information:

Is there a tutorial that explains in detail how I can get this working?

Are the wbfs files in a folder called wbfs. So it would be
USB:/wbfs/999999.wbfs or something like that.

yes the layout is usb:/wbfs/??????.wbfs or sd:/wbfs/?????.wbfs also if you need
help then post to the wiiflow thread or stop by the irc channel.
