Random crashing under certain conditions

Only for 1.5Beta+, with any font, type:
hot_de_mhar__kyeet_loe_ya_par_tal_._ah_
The _'s represent spaces. From the "." onwards, type very quickly. The
program will crash.

I imagine that a message is being buffered (particularly, I suspect a
"close window" method). Let's make some flags to test window
closing/opening, and set them manually to prevent errors. 

NOTE: This bug only appears in the beta release, so I think most users are
un-affected. However, it does stand in the way of font conversion. This bug
blocks release 1.6.

I put in a whole bunch of window checks, and I think this is working now. Hard 
to
test, because the bug only seems to appear when the system is heavily lagged.

Nathan tested the fix tonight, and typed an entire forum post with no problems.
