Align 3GX and Open9x Cyclic Pitch #236

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

Which board (stock / gruvin9x / sky9x) are you using?
Smartieparts Rev 2.3.

What is your open9x FW version?
r2129

What is your open9x EEPROM version?
213-0

What steps will reproduce the problem?
I'm using open9x (although I get the same result with er9x) and a trex 450 with
align 3gx. I bypass the gyro to setup and adjust my collective to get +/-12
pitch using collective on CH11. This works fine. Then adjust cyclic pitch to
get +/-8 pitch using swash ring. This also seems to work fine. Then after
completing the 3gx setup and back in gyro mode, collective pitch is still fine
but cyclic pitch is incorrect. L/R Ail or Ele will take the servo the full
range making pitch 17 deg+ And it behaves strange, like it quickly gets me to
the 8 deg or so but if you hold the stick all the way it slowly takes the servo
to the end point

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Cyclic pitch to work smoothly to my limits like it does for collective

Please provide any additional information below.
I've tried with and w/o D/R Expo

This sounds like normal gyro response, nothing to do with open9X.
On the ground the heli can not respond to your cyclic input by actually moving, so it goes to full travel.

HH tail gyros work the same way.

I don't have a 3GX, but looking at the manual you have to set your cyclic
travel limits there. The ones in the transmitter will adjust the rate of motion
(like they adjust piro rate with a gyro), but not the servo travels.

Only once the heli is airborne will the swash motion be "correct". My MCPx and
130X both do the same thing, any input to the cyclic on the ground causes the
swash to move all the way.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your answer Pat.

As I saw your question on RCG, perhaps it has been already answered, I have no
time to read all the posts. This open9x project is closed. It's opentx now.
Here:
https://code.google.com/p/opentx/

And instructions for checkout are here:
https://code.google.com/p/opentx/source/checkout

I will try to work soon on DSM2 pulses. Anyhow they will send us the backboard
only tomorrow. So we will only be able to test the external module at the end
of the week.
