There is no good indicator for the user when there is an applied filter. It would be bit weird to display them on the dashboard like we do with the search term. But some indicator to check the collapsible sidebar when a filter is active would make UX better.
Therefore: a little notification bubble? Dot? Icon? On the sidebar, indicating that there is some action in the sidebar happening. And while we are doing this, we can have a similar indicator that a new group invitation/application came in.
Something prettier than this, but one gets the idea.
