The repo pages put the date into the query string, but the org index pages don't... it would be more interesting if they did, because this date is also responsive to which days are selected...it influences the stats.
This should be an easy addition of adding "{start_str} and {end_str}" to the templates, as on other pages.
By doing this, we allow the query string to be preserved while navigating backward.
