When starting the the Android XBMC remote on my phone the following message
pops up:
I/O Exception (java.io.IOException)
Illegal character in authority at index 19:

I've checked the settings over and over again.
The remote control function is working which means that I use the correct
settings. I cant see my files or have the possibility to choose music/movie/tv
with the red buttons.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

I just verified my settings on the remote, and noticed that the username was
capitalized (because android loves to do that). Check your username and
password and see if that fixes the issue. It did for me.
