[1.15 pre23] Incorrect Custom Font Character Width #3648

Description of Issue

Wiki specifies: Due to the way fonts are detected, filling the background of a character with a color containing a 5 % alpha background causes the full width to render without having a visible background to the character.

This does not happen with Optifine. Not sure if this is intended.

With Optifine: optifine

Vanilla: vanilla

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Load custom font with alpha 5% background.
  2. Observe spacing of characters.

Prior Testing

Happens only with Optifine. Never tested older versions of Optifine.
