When it is getting darker or brighter during a Minecraft day in OptiFine HD_U_I7 and I8, the sky essentially has about 4 lag spikes every second, depending on what time of day it is, like sunrise or sunset, but in regular Vanilla Minecraft, the sky changes very smoothly.
