@richbodo we had a team discussion and concluded that there was still quite a bit of room for optimising the gitlab repo by removing unused branches, so I'm going to reopen this as the location for that discussion.

Hmmm...regarding stale branches, I think Stephen has merged his behat stuff, and there may have been a branch or two on email config that I want to look at, but that's about all I can think of.
@StephenCataldo do you see anything in the stale branches list above that you want to save?

I think the emails-config branch 261-email-testing https://gitlab.com/spacebase/spacebase/merge_requests/214
might still be of value, especially since javascript behat tests now work.
Otherwise, nothing to save.

The current Gitlab repository contains a large number of merged and inactive branches. Many of these can be removed to make it easier to find current activity.
These same branches should also be removed from Platrform.sh if they exist in that environment.
