Success metrics on the project profile page should be short summaries #341

Project Needs and Success Metrics sections currently show full listings of all information, rather than summary information.

Screen_Shot_2019-03-07_at_5.13.40_PM

As with organizations, most info on the profile page (i.e. a success metric or a need) was intended to be limited in size so as to give the user an idea of what is in each section.

We were hoping that a reasonable text string limit could be applied to each element within each box, and a limit in the number of items on the project profile page enforced, making for a compact, readable, easy to navigate system.

There are other ways to do things that we decided were slower for users and less useful - For instance:

We could include all information on the project, of any type, on one page, and have only one page for the project. That makes for a huge page and might be slower for users to navigate between info.

We could include just the headings and not the section boxes with summary info. That seemed a bit extreme as well, as we would have no explanation of what each section contains.

changed title from {-All project elements on the main page include all information instead of summary information-} to {+Success metrics on the project profile page should be short summaries+}

@richbodo this seems to me to be the opposite of the request #338? Shall we just add a character limit but not use a summary (ie the Drupal use of the word summary).

@thomasmurphy

338 says that /group/[group number]/project-aims has inconsistent style and formatting with the rest of the site - no effort has been made to make it visually consistent or to format it in any way.

This ticket says that /group/[group number] displays the full text of each success metric in the summary view on the project profile page. This is ugly, can make the page quite long, and makes /group/[group number]/project-aims irrelevant.

Yes, please limit the number of characters in the success metrics box on project profiles.

Myself and Em know almost no Drupal terms, so if you want to express the definition of summary in Drupal terms, just define it and we'll be on the same page.

All good?

@richbodo agree we haven't cleaned up the display, I've been waiting for the markup to stabilise before passing on to a front end developer to avoid repeating work. Also James has added functionality to the project page from where I handed it over to him, rather than just formatting, which I why I was confused. @jayelless it looks like you modified/repurposed a view I made as part of the reporting prototype for the project group page template work?

I was imagining that all of the success metrics information would be displayed on the main project page, but I didn't know how long you wanted this text field to be? We can put a limit on the text field to prevent people from entering too much information, or my understand from your comments is now that you don't want to limit this information but to display a summary of this information on the main project page and link through to another page showing the full information for all success metrics but not link to the individual metrics.

I'll also rename the path to refer to success metrics rather than project aims.

Cool. I see that you've made some mods and I'll check it out when it's on dev, Tom.
