Fixes for the f-droid merge request #429

These are the changes to the codebase recommended by the f-droid team in https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/-/merge_requests/12209

In particular

use static version codes
update gradlew to 7.6, fix also the jar file
add descriptions from f-droid/data repository

But also

improve tests
import useful changes from 3 obsolete branches
in particular, I added providers from branch 'version6'
enable kotlin
