Sadly, Mac brew installation of Calculix is is broken per:

One long term solution would be to switch to using docker to run the solver and possibly the mesher. From a search here, it looks like the latest ubuntu version of calculix is 2.11 https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?suite=all&searchon=names&keywords=calculix
