A key goal of starfish is to make image based transcriptomics (and proteomics) data available to the scientific community. There are several types of data we might share, which accomplish different tasks:
Randomized synthetic data: to help HCA ingest & upload with scale testing
Raw data in collaborators original formats: to help @joshmoore test the fidelity of data conversion
Raw data in starfish format: to enable the scientific community to hack on image processing with us
