suggestion: compatibility with Respackopts mod #4

Respackopts turn possible to disable thing in supported resourcepacks, the mod creates an config screen like this one:

This mod makes it possible to disable resourcepack functions, I would like Eclectic Sounds to have compatibility with this mod because I dont like some sounds from Eclectic Sounds, such as Ghast's screams, the sound when leaving a Nether portal, the sound of Blaze attacking fireballs, but otherwise I really like your resourcepack, i just wanna be able to disable specific sounds without having to go to the .zip file and delete the folders

Hey. So it is coincidental you mention respackopts because I have planned and have tried to use it in the pack in the past, and I still do plan on using it. When I did try, I was having some issues, perhaps the next time I try doing it again I'll get it right. Anyways so: Yes, I am planning on setting up respackopts, taking in consideration the ghast noises (including others I had already thought of). Do you also have any other suggestions that could be included in the respackopts config?

the sounds i think dont fit in minecraft are:

(inside minecraft -> tiger)

everything inside "random" folder and "portal" folder

"mob" folder -> "skeleton" folder, "polarbear" folder, "ghast" folder, "blaze" folder

i like the easter egg inside "item" -> "shield" folder, i would just prefer it to happen rarely

"entity" -> "player" -> all death sounds

-> "attack" -> "crit" I like the new critic sound, but i think some people wont like it

-> "lightning_bolt" i think the original lightning sound with the Immersive Thunder mod is better, the new sounds are very high pitched

"entity" -> "player" -> "leashknot" folder - i prefer leashknot sound effect from Auditory

"block" folder -> "shieker" folder, i think the original sculk shrieker sound is more terrifying

"piston" folder, i think the original piston sounds are much nostalgic, these new sounds take away its shine

i say the same to "dispenser" folder

(inside minecraft -> random)

"pop" (item pickup) i prefer the Item Dropping Sounds from Auditory

"click_stereo" (is so loud, and i prefer the default click sound of minecraft and many people use a texture that reduces the sound because it is already loud), this sound effect is by far my least favorite

(inside minecraft -> mob)

"turtle" folder -> "baby" folder (meme sounds) i believe it would be better if meme sounds were rarer

"irongolem" folder -> "throw" (when iron golem hits u), minecraft's original sound is pretty bad, the sound of your Texture's is interesting, but i believe it gives a lot of impact, it's very bassy, idk how to explain it properly, i believe it would be interesting to change it idk

"ghast" folder - i dont like all sounds, and the "fireball4" is too quiet

(inside minecraft -> item) "trident" folder - the original riptide sound effect are soo good, i didnt liked this change

(inside minecraft -> entity -> player -> hurt) i think the original fire_hurt sounds effects are too iconic

(inside extrasounds -> tiger)

I'm using a Fork of ExtraSounds because there is no official update to 1.20.1, and the sounds you put in the texture are not replacing the originals, i don't know why

but listening to them through the .zip file i say that:

under what circumstances will "voice_sans" be played?

I believe that "inv_open" is not that good, because we open the inventory a lot of times, this sound will get really boring over time because it looks a lot like a cartoon sound effect, but I also don't like the mod's original sound effect

"action" folder - i think didnt fit so well, and i think it's in the wrong folder, it should be in "auditory" instead of "extrasounds", Auditory has a customized bow sound, and I think the "Auditory" bow sound is more interesting

sorry for being so picky about sounds, otherwise i really like your Texture, if making compatibility with Respockts takes a lot of time, just publishing an alternative version without these sounds i mentioned would be extremely helpful

Before i begin let me just remind that Eclectic Sounds is a pack made for playability, and it is a pack that deviates significantly from the main core of Minecraft's original sound design, due to the specific theme which i chose to follow with it. In the sound cherry-picking process, fitting Minecraft's "style" was of course taken into consideration, but there were also other factors

About your comments: Note: I am aware that tastes are subjective, so it is not my intention to make it sound like i'm invalidating any of your points, if I did at any instance, reconsider this note!

i like the easter egg inside "item" -> "shield" folder, i would just prefer it to happen rarely

not sure what you're referring to here, am i just not looking in the right spot or did you just typed the wrong place?

"entity" -> "player" -> all death sounds

this is iconic to the pack's theme, it is the perfect example of me not prioritizing Minecraft's sound style. It is meant to be goofy and different from everything. However i could definitely understand what one would think about it if they were expecting something more "serious-like"

-> "attack" -> "crit" I like the new critic sound, but i think some people wont like it

i agree and was already planning on making most ,if not all, player attack sounds customizable (for the diehard pvp players using my pack)

-> "lightning_bolt" i think the original lightning sound with the Immersive Thunder mod is better, the new sounds are very high pitched

so even though i absolutely loved the idea of Immersive Thunder, i did not like at all how long the sounds were. I personally thought it would be just unfair to replace those mod sounds with mine, so i only sped them up as a personal preference. Unfortunately, using Minecraft's sound pitching function, the sounds turn into terrible quality noisiness. I will take another look at this and see what i can do about it

"click_stereo" (is so loud, and i prefer the default click sound of minecraft and many people use a texture that reduces the sound because it is already loud), this sound effect is by far my least favorite

i actually had big plans for this using respackopts. Adding various options for click_stereo for the player to choose. I have also had other people telling me that it is loud and I do not get how it is loud. It sounds just fine on my side? Will also try and take a look into this

"ghast" folder - i dont like all sounds, and the "fireball4" is too quiet

i do agree that the ghast sounds are out of place in my pack and i can justify it. The ghast sounds were around my second addition to Eclectic Sounds, i was still not sure what i was doing at the time and was not sure what exactly i was going for. i did consider removing them BUT, at the same time, i kind of don't because it feels weird to remove something and not replace it, if that makes sense

under what circumstances will "voice_sans" be played?

voice_sans plays on typing, (extrasounds:keyboard.type)

I believe that "inv_open" is not that good, because we open the inventory a lot of times, this sound will get really boring over time because it looks a lot like a cartoon sound effect, but I also don't like the mod's original sound effect

that sound sounds cartoonish because it is from a Mario game and it fits the pack's theme perfectly. I listen to it a lot too and don't get tired at all. I guess I'll have to try and have a more open-minded perspective, if i try to work with respackopts

i see, no problem, its your texture and you have the right to do as you wish
