Install fails because "re2" dependency can't find Python #23

When I try to install url-regex-safe with the following command:

npm install url-regex-safe@2.1.0

I get the following error:

This happens even with a fresh node project (no files, just barebones package.json). I do not have Python installed. Is Python really a dependency for this package? Can something be changed to avoid a dependency on Python?

Seems related to Issue #18.

Practically all binary modules for Node depend on node-gyp. It is true for re2 as well. While re2 has no direct dependency on Python, node-gyp does. See the link above for details on dependencies and how to set them up.
