Description

Open access Journals are particularly important in Africa in order to enable African scholars have access to quality peer reviewed articles, and also to enable researchers across the globe have access to articles published by Africans researchers without any form of restriction. In response to the important need to publish in open access journals in the Africa, many editors have recently promoted OA journals. However, the lacks of support and of experience for ensuring the quality and the transparency of the editorial process have perpetuated the OA publishing in the Africa. While the main objective of this project is to help early career researchers to engage with OA journals and become its main driving force in order to play in ensuring the successful and sustainable delivery of OA journals without APC's into the longer term.

How can others contribute?

Working towards global open access, in partnership with SPARC Africa, Volunteer editors, information professionals and researchers. Your contribution in French or in English languages, your support to this project are greatly appreciated, as will be your comments and suggestions.

Open Research Platforms like this https://aasopenresearch.org/ shift the APCs to funding bodies instead of authors of each article. This maybe one sustainable solution.
