Please consider an OpenLog 2:

add a battery-backed realtime clock
add commands to set/get date and time
add timestamps to directory and filename entries
add special character strings to embed date and time into logger data stream, e.g. replace %t with time, %d with date
add alarm function, e.g. at a specified time and date pulse pin for t seconds, could be time only e.g. every day at 13:00 or hourly
add watchdog function, e.g. if no data for n seconds, pulse pin for t seconds

Thanks for contributing! I have started a bug for a future revision of the board and included some of your comments.

Unfortunately, I don't think we could add in a battery backed real time clock for a few reasons. For one, this is already a separate product that we carry, and two, the size increase on this board would likely be a huge deterrent for many customers.
