Major issues with Gboard - the Google Keyboard #782

When using Gboard with simpleMDE, random characters are inserted when users press "space". This can be reproduced on simpleMDE main demo page: https://simplemde.com/

Any ideas if a workaround exists?

Edit: it happens with other keyboards too
