Thanks. This opacity features is so amazing and I hope we can apply it to other analysis like LULC, NDVI and others.

spatialthoughts commented 4 months ago

@Donsodiq Yes. Opacity works for all types of layers. You can also check out 'Blending Modes' which are even more powerful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dMQOozJCM4&t=188s

Hi... Thanks for the tutorial. I am stuck in connecting the with SEDAC site. I am getting a error message "Download capabilities failed: operation canceled". Pls help me in solving it. Thank you

the datasources seem to be broken.

https://www.earthdata.nasa.gov says:

"Content from all Earth science data sites are migrating into this site from now until end of 2026. Not all NASA Earth science data will appear across the site until then. Thank you for your patience as we make this transition."

the URL https://www.earthdata.nasa.gov/data/catalog/sedac-ciesin-sedac-lulc-puexpans-2030-1.00 does not lead to anything that looks like a wms-service

https://sedac.ciesin.columbia.edu/geoserver/ows and https://sedac.ciesin.columbia.edu/geoserver/wms both yield "Download of capabilities failed: Operation canceled"

data may be downloaded manually from https://sedac.ciesin.columbia.edu/geoserver/web/wicket/bookmarkable/org.geoserver.web.demo.MapPreviewPage?2 but that's not the point of the tutorial.

@Udayuthappa @hip365 SEDAC site is under maintenance and WMS service is not accessible. I have emailed SEDAC support for alternative solution and will update when I hear back.

Meanwhile you may try this service instead [USGS National Map NLCD Landcover WMS URL].(https://www.mrlc.gov/geoserver/NLCD_Canopy/wms?SERVICE=WMS&REQUEST=GetCapabilities)

If not, I may switch the tutorial to using one of the USGS WMS services from https://apps.nationalmap.gov/services/
