Zones and Completeness #428

Open veronicak7 opened 5 years ago

veronicak7 commented 5 years ago

During the STARLIMS discussion, today an issue came up about the business rules around selecting whether a zone is present or not. If at least 50% of a zone is present, we would mark the zone as present.

The problem arises when we want to mark a bone as "Incomplete", but also mark all zones as present. The system automatically changes the Completeness back to "Complete" if all zones are present. There are situations where we want to capture that the element is not complete, however we do have at least 50% of all zones present. There is no comments box (as there is in STARLIMS) where we can explain these situations and the current settings do not capture this situation (incomplete element with all zones [at least 50%] present).

@SachinPawaskarUNO let's discuss. Selecting Complete to then auto populate all zones is good. But we can see a need for Incomplete with all zones also being present, which indicates a bone with over 50% of each zone present but the sum of zones per specimen is less than 100% complete, hence "Incomplete"

@fedamann Thanks for chiming in, I was aware of this since the last trip and already have a plan on how to address this. We can discuss this next time we have CoRA SCRUM or I visit DPAA Omaha.

Related to this - it would be nice to also be able to identify if an element has all zones present but is fragmentary - I have a fragmentary os coxa - all zones are present to more than 50% but there is much less analysis one can do with an os coxa that is taped together than one that is in one piece

Can we please visit this issue sooner rather than later, @SachinPawaskarUNO and @fedamann? This is coming up a lot with our inventorying of the Ploesti (@mei215 ). We want to mark as "Incomplete" while still choosing all zones.
