Description

I would like to request two new pathology classifications for the Pathology section in CoRA.

Deformative: Rickets/Osteomalacia Lytic: Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD)

Use Cases

Deformative: Rickets/Osteomalacia

Both of these pathological conditions result from vitamin D deficiency in children and adults, respectively. One of the most notable symptoms that manifest in the skeletal remains of individuals with either of these conditions is the "bowing" or bending of long bones, which deforms their original shape.

Lytic: Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD)

Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD) (includes osteoarthritis) occurs specifically in joints due to the breakdown of cartilage and wear over time. This results in abnormal destruction and formation of bone around joints.

Please let me know if either of these conditions can be included in any of the classifications already available in CoRA. I believe these two are different than any of the classifications there, but I could be incorrect. Any input from the community is appreciated!
