Investigating FPGA CI Python segfaults #1584

FPGA CI seems to always encounter segfaults which crash instances of the Python interpreter. I am using this branch to investigate those.

Closing this. Unfortunately, I couldn't allocate time to conclude it. But there's this dedicated issue: #1606
