Generate "Example #" text inline instead of through CSS #474

Since people like to be able to search for this text and UAs can't search generated content. (Reported via www-style at https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-style/2015Jun/0085.html just transferring.)

In addition to some UAs not being able to search for css generated content, how do search engines deal with it? Sounds like it would be much more difficult to expect them to reconstruct the resulting appearance of adjacent text.
