Understanding the data from the detector #33

Hi,

Maybe that's a dumb question, but I think it would help more persons to have a better understanding of the data we collect from the detector.

I'm doing some collections and I'm having no success to analyze that data. I think I'm doing some misunderstands.

For example, below, this is the data I collection after 24h.

And that was my understanding of which row: image

Is that correct? How or where can I find the routines of the analyses I see at the website, like the periodogram and the histogram? Should I consider which line a new count?

Thank very much! Rogerio

Hi Rogerio,

The website needs to be updated because it still has some issues that we haven’t had time to fix just yet. A better way to understand how to plot the data can be found in the example iPython script located in the GitHub repo (https://github.com/spenceraxani/CosmicWatch-Desktop-Muon-Detector-v2/tree/master/Recording_Data/ExamplePlots). This script gives a good overview of how to analyze the data.

I think you were also asking if each row is a new event. Each row represents all the information collected for one event. The way you have the data in the excel file is correct.

There’s also a document (’ThePhysicsPaper.pdf’) in the repo that goes through a ton of measurements.

Thanks, let me know if this doesn’t answer your question.
