Fiat balance not displaying on android wallet #6694

When I tap the btc total on the History tab of the Electrum Android mobile wallet it switches to the fiat balance of my wallet. However only the acronym is displayed and not the actual balance of the wallet, so for example it just says 'CAD' and then no numbers displaying the balance of the wallet.

IIRC that happens if rates are not available. Try switching exchange rate providers. Also, are you using Tor or similar? Some providers ban Tor exit node IPs unfortunately.

CoinGecko is the only rate provider I see available in the settings on mobile, yes I am using Tor. That is silly that a crypto rate provider would ban Tor...

Right, last time I checked CoinGecko was banning Tor exits. Try disabling "History rates" -- that might reveal additional providers.

Ah, that worked thanks! I disabled 'history rates' and selected Kraken and it works now, they are my first choice for rate providers anyway. I will close this issue then because I guess it is not an issue with Electrum but with some third parties. Maybe we could not use rate providers who are not Tor friendly but don't know if thats entirely necessary.

Unfortunately there is only a handful of providers that have historical FX rates, CoinGecko being one of them :/
