Ended up undoing this and pushing it (rather, the "it" rebased on top of my older changes) to the flit branch for the time being, mostly so I have a snowball's chance in hell of maybe popping out a baby release of this with a fixed stylesheet for modern-er Sphinxes, using my existing invoke tasks.
Happy for it to be reinstated once moved to Sphinx org though, and probably ditto the Python 3.8 requirement, as long as that won't prevent me from using the theme on my still-3.6-compatible libraries.
