cd function does not seem to work in 1.7

I have just updated (28-aug-2011) to version 1.7 and I can no longer change 
directory by using the cd command. For example when I type 'cd sdcard' or 'cd 
mnt/sdcard' or 'cd /mnt/sdcard' I cannot change directory. I have tried all 
possible permutations. I was able to navigate among the directory structure of 
my phone without any problem in the previous version.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

I forgot to mention that the operating system on my phone is Android 2.3.3.

Big sorry.  Problem was worse than you probably know.  Totally botched merging 
some changes in the last release. Should work in 1.71
