To facilitate individual groups unavailable their raw + curated data (if only samples, not full studies). We would need to figure out the carrots so there would be benefits beyond bragging rights

Not sure what you mean exactly. Are you saying that we need 'carrots' to incentivize people to put their data online basically?

Carrot 1

Like we discussed, there could be a nice, online API for spike sorting (spikeinterface), spike train analysis (elephant or something), and visualization (ephysviz). This would be a good tool for people that would maybe motivate them to get their data online.

Workflow: data online --> spikeinterface --> elephant --> ephysviz

Carrot 2

Maybe we could have an automatic provenance download system. So for journals/people that want to know how the data were analyzed, you can immediately download a full page of provenance or something. This could help speed up paper writing for/submissions to journals that want a log of data provenance. Not sure if this would be possible or much of a carrot though.
