Remove unneeded input files #501

The presence of old and unusable input files may be confusing to some and is not helpful in any scenario anymore. Any examples should be in the documentation, not in this folder.

Removed with 7a85284ca560212b56f584465177d5ecdc4d1195 on branch 'hotfix' to be merged into a new release.
