I'm using video wallpapers on my shield and never faced this issue. What's your device model and Android version? When do these apps get stopped : do they start normally and stop during the show, do they not start the show at all ?
Regarding the video size there is no hard coded limit. But depending on how you set it, Projectivy might try to copy it locally and will be limited to the space available on the local storage.

Currently i have premium version, so when i set video wallpaper from settings, the ott services like YouTube hotstar Netflix Are getting stopped like with "something went wrong" error, but it i just use normal wallpaper everything is working fine, the reason i took the premium is to setup video wallpaper, pls check this issue!
