Feature request: Manual refresh option #80

When installing new apps, moving apps around, editing categories, etc. sometimes the UI doesn't show the changes immediately, or icons in a category end up stacked on top of each other. Would be nice to have an option to force a refresh in the Settings menu.

The UI should reflect the changes immediately. If it's not, it means that there are bugs that need to be fixed. For this, I would need a way to reproduce the issue. My main device is an Nvidia Shield and I've never experienced such issues during my day to day usage (although I've seen in the apps crash logs that sometimes, things don't seem to behave correctly). I also have other devices where I sometimes test when errors are reported.

I think it's a bad design decision to add a button to manually refresh the UI in case of bugs. Bugs should be fixed, not worked around manually by the user. I'll do in only on last resort if there are bugs that can't be fixed because they are part of the Android libs I'm using (which are unfortunately hardly ever updated though they have known bugs).

In the meantime, I would be very pleased to fix any bug I can reproduce on my side. This would require :

* the device model

* a way to reproduce it or a video

I analyzed this problem and I have something similar.

Example on Chromecast 4.0 4K:

  1. Launch Netflix
  2. Watch something so that there is a progress bar
  3. Shows the bar progress in Netflix in the "continue watching" category
  4. Quit Netflix (you can quit multiple times and nothing happens)
  5. There is no update in Launcher
  6. I turn on another Chromecast 4.0 HD device and when it starts up it shows correctly - it is not updated on the previous device. So I would probably have to turn the device off completely.

It's possible that the Launcher is not updating some status/event? Or something with streaming.

As an experimental version, I would like such a button next to wifi

You're not talking about the same thing :

I have the same issue. This is the 2023 4K ONN device from Walmart.

When I, for example, "add to" a channel from TV Apps to Favorites, the app doesn't show up in Favorites right away. I have to then scroll to the very left so that the left menu pops up, and then immediately the changes will show. I think the left menu showing up forces a display refresh.

So, I make my changes, even though they don't show up and then when I'm done I go to the very left to show the menu and then they show up fine.
