Labelling of DVDs and DVDs for Kids –

I have found that there are a lot of libraries that just have one big category of DVDs and use the subject/genre for the division between Adult AV and Children’s AV. I purposely tested ones I knew would only work under the DVDs for Kids and searched just the DVDs and it returned zero results. People may not realize they want a [SPL categorized] juvenile DVD (like Legend of Korra or Adventure Time) and just go to search DVDs to try and get return results with zero results when we do have the DVDs. Of course they can use the search everything default and narrow down the field but a lot of the patrons might start with an advanced search and when they find no results, they often come to us to double check before moving on. If we’re dead set on keeping them separate, perhaps we can put the two fields next to each other in the drop-down menu?

ToDo: Make a list of limits (first pulldown menu in search bar) and put it up for review.
