Disable certain helpful elements in settings? #1045

Closed Xyrexus closed 1 year ago

Sorry this is not really an issue so much as a request but I didn't see any emails or such to get in contact with the team.

Would it be possible in the future to add the option to disable certain helpful UI elements, like the new C/P thing next to the magic meter, or the various chest/key indicators you get in dungeons during a keysanity etc? These quality of life things are nice, but what if someone wants to have a less easy time? Should be an option to disable such things.

The C/P indicator's primary role is for accessibility for deaf players, as well as not put MSU-1 players at a disadvantage. This is because the dungeon music in non-keysanity is an indicator of if the dungeon is a pendant or a crystal, and players with hearing would be disadvantaged. We currently have no plans to make these optional.

As for disabling the compass item counters, those should be possible via the customizer. Set Dungeon Item Shuffle to Standard, set "Dungeon Counts" to "Off", and then choose the appropriate "X shuffled outside of dungeon" options you want to have enabled.

Ohh, I see, I'm dumb, I didn't even realise the music was different, I suppose because there's far more crystal dungeons. I'm a little surprised something visual like that isn't in it's own "Accessibility" section though, if only to cut down on clutter for people that don't personally need it on-screen, or even on the map screen (since checking for pendants/crystals is a world-map thing, maybe the indication should be on the dungeon map, much like how there's a boss picture if you've randomised bosses)

Thanks for the additional information though, I don't think I was aware of those customisation settings, I'll have to have a play around.

Closing this for now as it looks like the original point has been addressed, thank you for the feedback :)

Thank you, I hope the feedback is considered, for whatever reason this slight UI change just triggers my OCD and affects my enjoyment of newer randomised roms, that probably sounds stupid, but yeah...
