Vanishing enemy sprites (Triforce hunt) #198

Closed Kappatechy closed 7 years ago

Kappatechy commented 7 years ago

Seed: 294151902 Difficulty: normal Logic: no-glitches-26 Mode: open Variation: triforce-hunt Goal: triforce-hunt

Description of Problem: Upon starting the game and stepping out of Link's house, the soldiers outside HAD NO HEADS. Their bodies would sometimes disappear as well. What happened to the enemy spritesheet?? Large chunks of several enemies seem to vanish like this, as do some enemy projectiles, making the game a lot harder than it should be. EDIT: Actually, almost ALL enemies are invisible, save for their shadows and sometimes little bits of them. Anything that doesn't CAST a shadow is completely undetectable and unfair.

Are you playing on an emulator and if so which one/version? This sounds like a problem with an emulator (e.g. accidentally turned off a sprite layer with a hotkey, etc). Very hard to determine what would have caused this as it appears to be a one off (generared that seed and it worked fine).

I'm using ZSNES, and it worked just fine with any number of other randomized ROMs. Tried toggling all the switches, and it didn't help.

I DID change settings around a fair bit before settling on Triforce Hunt mode. It's possible that somehow affected it. I don't really know how this could be reproduced, I'd just assumed it was Triforce Hunt mode that caused this, as I've played about 10 other ROMs in various modes that worked just fine, but the first time I tried Triforce Hunt mode, I got this glitch.

I'm 99% certain it isn't the ROM causing the issue but the emulator.

ZSNES isn't a supported emulator (it's also banned in speedrunning and races) due to lag and other inaccuracies. I would strongly recommend you switch to almost any other SNES emulator (SNES9X 1.51+, SNESGT, BSNES/HIGAN, etc).
