New icon for organization

Hi, I have made a new icon for the organization. I personally think that the current icon is too dark and uneasy to see.

My design is very simple. Hope the community like it. :D

Everything is subjective on the art. I personally don't like the current logo because it is only dark and white. Moreover, there is a giant arrow in front of the major icon (Spotify logo), which is very distracting and would have less connection to the service itself. I reckon spofity should have a higher priority than download, so it should be the first thing that catches people's eye.

keeping the Spotify logo up front and center is a good way to (a) grab a lot of peoples attention and (b) get a copyright infringement claim, both of which are really good ways to get this project shut down (like sickbeard and a dozen other piracy projects)

Wow, there are many logos to choose from! I like first and second (I don't know the differences in the background) but maybe switch the cloud to something else? Cloud may seem irrelevant? 😕

Yes, I would like to get involved. I personally like the direct and straightforward logo with a solid connection to what the project is doing. But with this situation, we may not have one.

This is getting interesting.

@jcs090218, an icon isn't necessarily relevant - for example, GitHub's logo had nothing to do with code or data hosting. All that a logo needs to be is recognizable.

That being said, in creative ventures, there is always room for improvement, I personally think @loftwah's logo's are great (good job on that 👏) but I also think there is room for improvement.

The backgrounds are just to show what it looks like in different colours (I couldn't render with the correct transparency at the time). If you like, I'll let you direct me on which direction to take, give us a heads up if you need me in the Discord server to work directly or if you're happy to work from one of those. If you're capable of going all the way from any of the examples you're more than welcome to do that also. Looking forward to seeing it, there isn't exactly a rush on any of this so its a good chance to gain experience (for anyone).

That is what these open source projects are all about, I can already do graphics design, so there isn't any benefit to my skills, or career by doing it here. If I can assist someone else, I believe there is much more value to be gained. It looks like you've got quite a bit of experience elsewhere that is very valuable to the team and others that you can pass on sometime.

I'll keep track of the Discord, I'm finally about to start getting some time again, the first time since I joined the project and will be able to help a lot more.

My input: I kinda like the icon from @jcs090218 but it is not what I would vote for.

• It is much too genaric, something more different
• Easily confused with other spotify downloaders
• too much of spotify (copyright?)

I agree - looks pretty cool. @loftwah perhaps the green from other examples could be used as an accent? Perhaps around the "down arrow/download" circle?

I think the otherwise dark colour scheme works well.

I personally like the fork on the record idea, I also recommend to have something around it if you are going with the transparent cloud download icon.

Another thing is, many downloaders use the download and cloud icon, so I think the fork-record and the hand-record images stand out from most downloaders.
