Controlling Spotify Approved Speakers with Web API: Which ones are supported? #1542
if this is the wrong place for my question, please feel free to point me somewhere else. Thank you.
I am a Spotify Premium customer and I am considering to buy Spotify enabled speakers, but it is mandatory for my use-case that I can control them via the Spotify Web API. I have understood that this is not generally the case. For example, I use some Spotify Connect Devices, which are only discoverable using the mobile Spotify App, not via the Web API endpoint https://api.spotify.com/v1/me/player/devices (they do show up when a Spotify App has been used to trigger playback on them, though).
Regarding my use-case: I am building some custom hardware Spotify controllers for controlling music playback at home. Under the hood there is a Raspberry Pi which receives playback requests from the user and needs to initiate Spotify playback on some speakers.
I did not find a whole lot of information on this topic, especially on the question which speakers would be usable in this scenario. Do such speakers exist at all?
If not, is there a different approach for implementing this? Again, to summarize:
I have an embedded device, which processes playback requests from the user.
The device shall initiate audio playback via Spotify on some speakers, preferably using the Web API.
Speaker and embedded device can be assumed to be in the same network (even in physical proximity).
Are there other interfaces usable for private Premium customers for controlling playback on Spotify Connect enabled devices?
Thank you very much for your help, it is highly appreciated.
Moritz
