3 years ago We added an importer for docx and one for odt. Adding support for doc is more difficult since it would mean that the user would have to install platform-dependent software. We could write a plugin for this but plugins need to be maintained. We decided that it's not worth the effort for now. If a user needs to run doc files through Sparv it's quite easy to convert doc into docx via the Microsoft Word interface.
