What is .adoc file extension, and what are tools to work with (e.g. Eclipse plugin)?

Is it AsciiDoc http://www.methods.co.nz/asciidoc/ ?

Is https://github.com/asciidoctor/asciidoctor-gradle-plugin what is used ?

To be precise, it's asciidoctor and we use https://github.com/asciidoctor/asciidoctorj on the website to dynamically render the pages programmatically.

Regarding plugins on Eclipse, I'm not sure. I usually use the command line to render a document as shown on https://github.com/spring-guides/draft-gs-template/wiki/Working-with-AsciiDoctor. There's also a Chrome plugin that will partly render a file (no includes).

It's a plain text file. Just open it with a text editor.
