Interact with the Python console option not working #17925

Open rlabbe opened 2 years ago

rlabbe commented 2 years ago

Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

With "Interact with the Python console after execution" checked, execute a Python script with F5. Wait for it to finish, then start typing. Focus is still in the script, not the console.

Hey @rlabbe, thanks for reporting. The option you're trying to use only works if you run your code in an external Python console. That's why it's placed on the section called External system terminal. However, it shouldn't be possible to set that option unless you select the Execute in an external system terminal option above. We'll fix that in our 5.3.2 version.

The option you want is in Preferences > Editor > Run code > Maintain focus in the Editor after running cells or selections. If you disable that option, then you should be able to interact with the console after running a file. However, that has some bugs at the moment, which will be fixed in 5.3.2 as well.
