File explorer on WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) does not update when file is renamed or new file is created #20210

Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

I'm using Spyder on Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL). After setting up Spyder using Conda. I noticed that renamed/created files are not updated until I reopen Spyder. This is due to the fact that I'm using a directory from my Windows, instead of WSL. To use files on Windows while using WSL, the folder path in my case looks like this '/mnt/c/Google Drive/python_directory'.

This only occurs on when I use files from Windows. When I use WSL files, Spyder updates names and newly created files normally.

I apologize for such specific problem, my goal is more about to make Spyder team aware of this. Python is so much better on a linux enviroment that I think is worth a look.

Hey @arturdaraujo, thanks for reporting. I think this problem could be related to the creation of files in a Google drive directory.

To test that, what happens if you create files in another of your Windows directories not inside Google Drive (nor One Drive or Dropbox either)?

Sorry, it is actually working fine on google drive and other normal folders.

Sorry again, but I would like to reopen this issue. I just realized that I'm having some issue renaming and creating files in a Dropbox folder.

Context: My directory is on windows. So it looks like this on spyder: "/mnt/c/Users/artur/Dropbox/python_directory" When I rename, delete, or do anything else on spyder, the files keep unchanged. When I try this outside of Dropbox, like in "/mnt/c/Users/artur/Documents" the files are changed, but only after I move up or down from the directory that in (I just need to go to "/mnt/c/Users/artur/" and then back to ""/mnt/c/Users/artur/Documents" that I see the changes that I made, which is good enough for me. When I'm using dropbox, this is not even possible. I have to close Spyder and then open it up back again to see some changes.

I'm sorry for the confusion, I just wanted to clarify this issue instead of closing it up arbitrarily.
