Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Starting Spyder 5.3.3 on Windows 10 results in the error dialog after Spyder has completed start up.

The precise message is: "spyder_kernels >=2.3.3;<2.4.0 : 2.3.2 (NOK)" My conda environment shows the installed version of spyder-kernels as 2.3.3 FWIW note that "spyder-kernels" is the installed package, not "spyder_kernels". Spyder seems to work OK despite this nuisance error message.

Hey @AldoMaine, thanks for reporting. It seems Spyder is detecting another Spyder-kernels version you have installed in your system.

Please go to the menu

View > Panes > Internal console

and run there

import spyder_kernels
spyder_kernels.__file__

and post the result here.

It looks like I have an old folder with out of date packages cause this path is not the same as my primary anaconda python environment.

I renamed the \Python39\ folder and the problem went away.
