[Feature request] Theme (dark, light) according to system theme #21902

Problem Description

Would be great if there is a option to select "auto" for the theme, that the theme will changed according to the system theme (windows) -> at the day: light theme -> at the night: dark theme

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

That the theme is automatically set due to Windows-theme

Hey @update-freak, thanks for reporting. This is a nice feature request. Unfortunately, we don't have time right now to implement it because we're quite busy with other things.

However, I'll leave this issue open in case someone else from our community is interested in working on this.

Please, also for Linux with GNOME (and Pop!_OS).

While switching between Light and Dark theme, please also switch between syntax highlighting theme Spyder and Spyder Dark.

Implementing this is not only for day and night usage but also when switching between dark indoor and bright outdoor locations.
